Governor’s Prayer Breakfast

The 57th Annual Louisiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast was held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge. We were pleased to have Dr. Jim Denison of The Denison Forum as our keynote speaker for the 2021 event.

The Louisiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is an annual non-partisan event led by citizens of Louisiana who join together in a time of prayer for the leadership of our state, including the Governor, the Legislature and all state and local elected officials. Its purpose is to seek God’s guidance for all leaders and citizens of our State, and to strengthen ourselves for the journey as we try to live as a responsible community of faith. It is an interdenominational event centered on the person of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and is intended to promote His glory.

I thank God for the ministry of the Louisiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. The testimonies of Mr. Archie Williams and U.S. Representative Julia Letlow were inspiring. We were grateful for the participation of Governor John Bel Edwards, Senate President Page Cortez, Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder, Treasurer John Schroder Sr., and many Senators and Representatives. FOSTER CARE INITIATIVE

My heart is deeply pierced by the troubles that many foster care kids navigate. I have agreed to pull together a gathering of leaders on April 20 to address the brokenness of families and provide a real solution. Judge Scott Gardner will share the realities that he encounters weekly, and an incredible ministry named James Samaritan will provide the solution to the needs of aging out kids. If the Faith Community steps up, this one problem can be solved, and healthy dynamics can change lives. Pastors, elected leaders, ministry volunteers, mental health leaders, Louisiana State Foster Care Officials and many others will attend. I am convinced that if Faith leaders, Business Leaders and Government Leaders come together in trust filled relationships … all things are possible.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Pray for the 2021 Louisiana Legislative Session. The Legislator’s Bible Study began on April 15.
Continue to pray for Donna. The difficulty with her upper back persists.
Pray for an opportunity to be part of the Mission’s Conference at Forcey Bible Church. I will speak online the evening of April 21st.
